Summary
The research study is being conducted to determine if there are differences in anxiety scores, heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen status when using sedation medication versus the patient's choice of listening to music while undergoing a peripheral nerve block before his or her surgery. The patient will either receive a pair of disposable, non-noise canceling headphones and select his or her choice of music or intravenous medication to help ease any anxiety during the procedure. The patient's participation will last for approximately 30-60 minutes from the time you agree in taking part of the study to after the procedure is done. Before and after the surgery, we will conduct an anxiety scoring test which includes six questions to answer and takes only a few minutes.
