Humans are exposed to a variety of small molecules called metabolites. These can come from food products broken down in the gut and from bacteria that are already in the gut, or both. These metabolites make up what is called the metabolome. There is evidence that the gut metabolome can contribute to the onset of some diseases. Therefore, this study will look at the relationship between the bacteria in the gut and primary sclerosing cholangitis.
