Summary

The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence of different microbiome populations in the oropharynx and the role that the microbiome plays in oropharyngeal carcinoma. This single-institution, retrospective, case-control study compares the microbiome of control patients who underwent tonsillectomy for non-cancer to patients who underwent surgical treatment for oropharyngeal carcinoma.
