Advertising and Packaging Effects on Smokers' Risk Perceptions and Use of Low Nicotine Cigarettes

Summary
This study will address the impact of potential FDA regulatory actions of cigarette nicotine reduction and marketing. We will recruit 60 current smokers for a 15 day protocol. Participants must be 21 to 65 years old, smoke at least 5 cigarettes per day and have been smoking for at least 12 months. Participants will smoke their own brand cigarettes for a 5 day baseline period, followed by a 10 day period of smoking low nicotine cigarettes. The study cigarettes will be dispense in 1 of 4 packages varying in color. Packs will either be red, blue, plain or standard Spectrum packaging.
